DANIEL BUYINZA

The Forward Pass Foundation is not a new idea for Daniel, who, as a student at Ndejje University, first started organizing small fundraising events for children in need of food, tuition, and medicine. After graduating in 2017 with a degree in Marketing, he pitched his idea to a few of his friends, and together they began to lay the framework for this foundation. Yet they struggled to run their organization at first, due to a lack of financial support. Undeterred, Daniel pushed ahead with a new vision in 2019, founding the Fire Gates Netball Club, an opportunity for underprivileged girls to develop confidence and a more consistent schedule. Shortly after its first practices, the clinic began to take off, with more than 20 new athletes joining each month on average. The Forward Pass Foundation intends to merge Daniel’s two projects into a unified organization.

“I have tried to mentor these girls by offering counseling, career guidance, and an opportunity for them to develop their netball talent and keep them busy.” - DANIEL BUYINZA

GRIFFIN WONG

Griffin, who works remotely from Los Angeles, USA, joined our foundation in its infancy in December 2019, during his second trip to Uganda. He is the designer, creator, and manager of our website and also raised the first UGX$9,000,000 our foundation ever received by rallying his friends and family around our cause. Just 20 years old, he has traveled to all six inhabited continents and emphasizes the value of his relationships with locals everywhere he has been. Griffin will attend Harvard University as a member of the Class of 2024 and intends to obtain a degree in Sociology, but will continue to work with the Forward Pass Foundation from college.

“I’ve always said that if there was one issue that, if we could solve it, would make the biggest impact on the world, it would be to make sure every girl gets a quality education.” - GRIFFIN WONG
